Born Leonora Lucy Abraham, Leonora Braham was signed by Richard D’Oyly Carte to create the title role inPatience at the Opera Comique in April 1881. She remained the Company’s principal soprano until March 1887, creating many roles including Yum-Yum, the beautiful ward of the Lord High Executioner, Ko-Ko, in The Mikado.
